Fjordman and Breivik

The Baron is still outraged by attempts to link him and Fjordman to Anders Breivik, who committed the mass murder of fellow Norwegians of the leftist persuasion earlier this year. The newest outrage? - Breivik's defense attorney wants to call Fjordman to the stand in defense of his client! Classic! Of course the Baron lies about why Fjordman would be called to the stand - claiming that it would be because he "is guilty of being exactly correct in his analysis that rampant immigrant crime would lead to rising tensions in Europe." Wrong, dear Baron. Fjordman would be called to testify about his outrageous political beliefs and how they drove a man of Mr. Breivik's tenuous hold on reality to commit his awful deeds.

Fjordman then weighs in with a pathetic rant against Norwegian newspaper "VG," and inadvertently shows how beyond the pale he is with this complaint: "VG has launched a massive campaign against my person. And it is not even a Leftist newspaper by Scandinavian standards."

The Baron then gives us a list of others who are mentioned in Breivik's meandering manifesto, and suggests that they also be called to the stand with Fjordman. They include:

Well Baron, some of these people (Blair, Bork, Clinton) are clearly tangential in Breivik's scribbled meanderings, others I am not familiar with, Bernard Lewis is a mainstream historian whose words have been hijacked by the anti-Islamic idiots, and at least one (Hitchens)can't be tied to hatred of left-wing Europeans, since he is one himself. But several of the names do indeed deserve calling to trial with Fjordman, especially Bostom, Geller, Spencer, Trifkovic, Pipes, Ye'or, and Belien. And yes, Charles Johnson, the blogfather and ugliest of them all, who deserves to be on the stand to explain how he could transform his message from the pure Islamohatred of pre-2007, inspiring copycats like the Baron and Breivik, with his message today.

And then in the very first comment, from EscapeVelocity, we get a pure distillation of the mindset that led to Breivik targeting his fellow white Norwegians rather than the evil Mooslims:

The people responsible for the actions of Breivik are Leftwingers who have spearheaded the importation of hostile backwards foreigners and the promotion of their backward hostile cultures over the indigenous Europeans.

The violence is entirely predictable, and will continue to esculate, as the Leftist power elite seek to clamp down on the uppity indigenous hoi polloi via the abridgment of their rights, selective enforcement of law, etc....in part driven by these jackbooted responses to the uppity indigenous who are not enjoying being colonized by violent backwards Third Worlders (including having their women raped by them).

The Baron's reverie for the good ol' days (of vigilantes and lynching)

Unbelievable. But, then again, this is Gates of Vienna and the Baron Boddissey, so anything is possible. The Baron attacks the outbreak of candlelight vigils, flowers, and teddy bears whenever a horrible, criminal event occurs. And he wishes for the return of different days.

It was not so long ago that abominations such the mass murder of children provoked a different reaction from the general populace in Western countries. Instead of candles, torches were carried, along with whatever weapons came to hand. Under such circumstances local political leaders were hard-pressed to prevent the dispensing of rough justice.

Yes indeed, the Baron longs for the good ol' days of the south, when "criminals" were summarily seized and lynched by angry mobs. Somehow, those criminals were always black men ...

The past (El Ingles) comes to haunt Gates of Vienna yet again

An intrepid Dutch newspaper, investigating the Gates of Vienna-Fjordman-Anders Breivik nexus, has unearthed an old skeleton in the Baron's closet - the infamous El Ingles "genocide" post from 2008 that got GOV kicked out of Pajamas Media. The Baron is alarmed, and trots out the usual evasions and obfuscations.

But, in a very key sense, the Dutch paper "Trouw" is off-base. El Ingles was predicting (and subtly advocating) genocide against Muslims in Europe. Anders Breivik, inspired by Fjordman, the Baron, and others of their ilk, actually began the commission of the mass murder of White, European "leftists" that the Baron and Fjordman constantly rail against as traitors to the race (not technically a genocide, because Whiteys who agree with the Baron would be spared). Two different targets.

The Baron and Breivik - again

Baron Bodissey is still desperately spinning the Anders Breivik fiasco - trying to find a why to wriggle himself and his movement free from the taint of inspiration they gave to Breivik in his atrocities. But this blog has exposed the same mindset at Gates of Vienna that led Breivik to attack fellow Norwegians rather than evil Mooslims. We've also exposed the Baron's pity party, and compared the Baron's pathetic evasions with those of a repentant anti-jihad blogger.

And now, for some fisking of the Baron's (and his commenters') recent post:

First of all, if Mr. Breivik is insane, then none of us “Islamophobes” can be blamed for his actions.

Au contraire dear Baron, the insane are often the first dupes taken in by the wordsmithing blandishments of extremists, and the first to take those words into action.

However, since he remains a “right-wing extremist”, the obvious implication is that others who oppose mass immigration and Islamization are also insane — we just haven’t committed any crimes yet.

You speak the truth here, dear Baron.

In my own untutored opinion, however, Mr. Breivik is not insane, but rather a psychopath. Insanity manifests itself as an inability to reason and/or an inability to perceive reality. Based on his writings, Mr. Breivik doesn’t match either of those criteria. He can reason just fine, and has never been unaware of reality. He just has different motivations than the rest of us. Rather than insane, he is evil. If the rest of us weren’t insane ourselves, we’d identify evil when we saw it, and act accordingly.

Once again, words used to describe Breivik could easily also describe you and your ilk, dear Baron. I relish identifying the evil in your own words and deeds, and publicizing them on this blog.

The comments section (yes, comments are back at GOV) features an incoherent and angry ramble from Dymphna, trying to tie the whole thing in some bizarre way to American diplomats and Wikileaks. Dymphna is morphing into an ersatz Madame DeFarge wannabe for the anti-jihadist movement. Except I seriously doubt that Dymphna's sister was a Bahai virgin ravaged by some Iranian Muslim Marquis de Evremonde - and, despite paranoia about Saudi youth camps and serial killers with the last name of Mohammed, nothing like that has been happening in Northern Virginia.

Ideological Food Fights and the true nature of Fjordman

An old battle is revived, as former bosom buddies Baron Boddissey and anti-jihad blog godfather-turned-traitor Charles Johnson have it out for old times sake. Johnson posted this screed from a figure truly hated by fellow Norwegian Fjordman and the Baron.

And so, let's look more closely at the Baron's (and Fjordman's) initial response.

1. Hysterical denunciation must be the main response to any book that actually provides evidence that the rancid hate peddled by Fjordman and publicized by Gates of Vienna actually may have inspired Breivik. As we have pointed out many times on this blog, the Baron's and Fjordman's main target is quite often NOT the Islamists they hate, but the European and American leaders they hate even more.

2. Is Fjordman a fascist? Is Strommen a stalinist? Both are labels as epithets, without much meaning any more. One must look at the actual policy positions on the major issues of the day to determine the truth. A cheap and easy label is a cheap, easy (and wrong) way out.

3. As I understand the Baronic/Fjordmanic response, they cry "we're not fascists, we're merely racists, and we're proud of it!"

And #3, in a nutshell, is the evil of Gates of Vienna, an evil that must be exposed for what it is.

Winston Churchill blasphemed

I don't know who had the "bright idea" of transforming Winston Churchill's famous "Iron Curtain" speech made at Fulton, Missouri in 1946 into an anti-Muslim screed about the alleged takeover of Europe by evil Moooslims. It is three things - 1) a gross insult to a great 20th century leader, 2) a completely inapt analogy, even if you happen to think that Europe is endangered by Islamic hordes, and 3) a completely inapt analogy, because Europe is not endangered by Islamic hordes.

If the Baron and Fjordman are looking for appropriate speeches for them to transform for their own ideological ends, might I suggest this publication? For the Baron and Fjordman see the insidious invasion of Europe by evil, cancerous vermin, in much the same way that the Nazis and other European anti-semites viewed European Jewry.

Hint, his name is David RAMADAN!

Otherwise he seems to be a pretty conservative republican, but the name, and the religious affiliation behind the name, means that Mr. Ramadan is to be shunned at all costs, according to Dymphna. She takes her cues from anti-Islamic nutcases like Frank Gaffney. This isn't Dymphna's first warning about the mysterious Mr. Ramadan, and the evil genius of Grover Norquist and his "attempt to infiltrate the Muslim Brotherhood into the GOP," to paraphrase dear Dymphna.

All Muslims are to be distrusted and shunned, even those, like Mr. Ramadan, who are sponsored by a guy who wants to get the federal government small enough so that it can be drowned in a bathtub.

Paranoid delusion is dangerous, Dymphna. See a shrink before it's too late.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day

The Baron reports on the outrageous fire-bombing of a satirical French weekly that dared to satirize Islam and Mohammed. The Baron's post is admirably restrained, sticking to the facts of this medieval attack on western freedom of expression.

And I'll give the Baron a free link to this knucklehead from Time Magazine's on-line version, who basically states that Charlie Hebdo "deserved" their bombing, and that it was time for press self-censorship in cases like this. I think the Baron and I would agree, for once, that Bruce Crumley's position is truly shameful for the member of a (for now) free press.

Now whether the Baron is for a free press for those, like Muslims, who oppose his extreme viewpoints ... perhaps we'll get some hints on that front in future exposes of Gates of Vienna's dangerous extremism. But, for now, the Baron and I are undoubtedly on the same page.

Fitting Libya into the Baron's Pigeon (Head) - Hole

The Baron loved to make fun of Colonel Qaddafi. The mad dictator fit well into the Gates of Vienna pantheon of mythological Arab-Muslim leader figures. The Baron didn't see the Colonel as a reliable Islamist, except when convenient to do otherwise.

But now Qaddafi is gone. Libya has a chance to become a modern state with a modern government. But the Baron wants none of that. To fit into the pigeon-hole, Libya must now become another mixture of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Somalia. Never mind that these are three very different places - in the Baron's one-dimensional world they are three peas in a pod.

Look for more Baronial hysterics and pigeon-hole-stuffing attempts as Libya turns away from Qaddafi toward a more modern, dare I say "progressive" government. After all, look at his hysterics over Turkey.

This isn't the revolution the Baron wanted. He was looking forward to the one where the occupiers, along with assorted bureaucratic leeches and evil Mooslims, were scattered dead in the streets from the bullets of the righteous (e.g. Breivik) or hanging from lampposts, or at least confined to concentration or re-education camps.

For the record, the "occupy" movement doesn't have a lot of things right. But any reaction to the Tea Party punks that have infested this great nation for the past three years, giving them "a taste of their own medicine," is to be welcomed.

Her shrill hysterics, and the hysterics and lies told by her sources (and right-wing nut/Presidential candidate Herman Cain) are starting to remind me of the screechings from Joseph Goebbel's propaganda machine against nations, such as Yugoslavia in March, 1941, that dared to defy the Third Reich consensus. (Yes, I know, Godwin's law ...)

The most egregious lie of all? Dymphna's complete absolution of the Wall Street plutocrats who are the prime cause of our current maladies, and her shift of all blame onto "government." Here's a tip, Dymphna, take a look at this movie and prepare for your head to explode!

Actually a mildly interesting essay - for all his faults the Baron is not a knuckle-dragging knucklehead like his latest object of fantasy, "Tommy Robinson". No one who so obviously enjoys the British Museum can be ALL bad! Two of the most notable points:

1. The Baron lovingly describes a "Counterjihad" conference in support of the ennobling "Mr. Robinson." The impression that immediately came to mind is that the Baron clearly sees the recent persecution of the English Defense League by British Authorities as an episode in the "Beer Hall Putsch" days of this organization - in 10 years he thinks Herr Hitler, er, I mean "Mr. Robinson," to be invited by the Queen (or her successor) to form a government as Prime Minister.

2. The Baron included this little gem:

Tommy took us all on a little tour of the most enriched areas of his town. Parts of Luton look like the Third World, except for the fact that the architecture is that of a working-class English industrial town. Halal grocers, kebab restaurants, clothing shops with headscarves in the display windows, mosques, signs in Urdu and Arabic — this is the modern face of Luton.

I didn’t take many photos, being worried that my raising the camera would attract the attention of passersby, who might then recognize their nemesis inside our car.

Interestingly enough, among the West Indian and African immigrants are a fair number of evangelical Christians. These brave people are willing to proclaim their faith openly in what must be a completely hostile environment — I saw a Christian center in a converted cinema, complete with a prominent lighted cross, right there in the midst of all the halal and hijabs.

Those must be some tough Christians.

Actually, Baron, you are making a rather bald and unsupported assertion that this is a "hostile" environment for evangelical Christians. Do you have any evidence of religious wars, or violence against such Christians in Luton and similar neighborhoods? I thought not.

So says the Baron, in response to a query from one of his stooges who actually believes that the Muslims are the problem:

But Baron, doesn’t your statement that Islam is not the problem go counter to your own header line about a new phase of a very old war? Granted that the West’s dhimminess today is a major factor, Islam itself has always been a problem. People like Ibn Warraq… Wafa Sultan… Nonie Darwish… and many, many others have said so in rather forceful terms.

The Baron states this in response:

Islam is the immediate problem, but it is not the core problem. The underlying systemic problem is the cultural rot in the West, which mandates mass immigration as a good, and demonizes traditional Western culture. The West has the cultural equivalence of AIDS, which is the disease itself. Islam is a virus of opportunity like pneumonia. It will be the proximate cause of death, but it is not the root cause.

Confronting the Socialist-Multicultural project directly is a difficult task, since it controls the entire culture. It is actually much easier to fight Islam than Cultural Marxism. Opposing Islam — which is so obviously antithetical to Western values — opens the door to the deconstruction of the Leftist hegemony.

And, please realize that, among members of the Baron's "Socialist-Multicultural project" and "Leftist hegemony" in Europe are such political figures as David Cameron (CONSERVATIVE party Prime Minister, Great Britain) and Nicholas Sarkozy (RIGHT-CENTER President, France).

What the Baron is after is not standard right-wing policies. The Baron is after a right-wing, Whites-only semi-fascist state. And not only in Europe - he appears to desire such an outcome for us on this side of the Atlantic too.

And he continues to have learned NOTHING from the inspiration Anders Breivik got from him, Fjordman, and the other irresponsible brayers of "treason" at the "leftist hegemony."

Back to the Basics of Islamohatred for Dear Dymphna

Dymphna attempt at 9-11 profundity can be found here. While she includes a small, yet disturbing passage attacking the "public sector socialist unions and their supporters on the Left, especially the consensus media," imbibing in a GOV trend that led to Anders Breivik and possibly future similar atrocities, most of her screed goes back to the basics of Islamohatred, including the attacks on Mohammed and the inability or refusal to see Islam as anything other than a monolithic force for evil. Throw in some "economic doom for us all" hyperbole, and that sums up the essay. I could have imagined something even blood-curdlingly worse than this, but that's not the Baron's and Dymphna's style these days.

A new low for Baronic Hyperbole - the "Bedford Lubyanka"

British EDL thug Tommy Robinson is back in jail in Bedford. In response, the Baron takes his hyperbole to new laughable depths.

During Soviet times, “the Lubyanka” was the popular name for the building that housed KGB headquarters on Lubyanka Square in Moscow. The term was particularly applied to the notorious prison on the lower floors where political prisoners were confined.

Perhaps Bedford Prison will someday carry a similar connotation in England, for that is where Tommy Robinson has been confined for violating the terms of his earlier bail. His recent arrests have all been political, and his current incarceration is also obviously political.

Tommy Robinson is a political prisoner of the Fascist Multicultural British State. Bedford Prison is Lubyanka on the Ouse.

The first, obvious point to be hammered into the Baron's pointy-headed skull is that he is demeaning and outraging the countless millions of lives snuffed out and blighted by the Soviet Union by comparing it with the travails of a far-right British thug.

For those of you who want some unbiased information about the English Defense League, start with Wikipedia. Same for "Tommy Robinson". A pretty nasty character, his violent antics in the past led the British police to impose probation terms on him aimed at preventing him from fomenting more violence. He violated the terms of his probation, and was taken back to jail. Where, according to the Baron, a modern-day British Nikolai Yezhov is getting ready to start pulling out his fingernails.

Although they're not the Baron's direct words, his uncritical copying of this stinking Norwegian fish of an article tells me that the Baron's mantra is "THEY DESERVED IT!" Disgusting, Baron. Would you similarly commemorate a similar attack on an NAACP convention or a MoveOn conclave in the U.S.?

Emulating the Enemy

In this situation, the enemy is National Public Radio. The Baron and Dymphna are begging for money again.

The Baron trots out his by now frequently-rehearsed whine about how he and the other white European (or descended-from-European) patriots are being smeared over the actions of "Anti-Jihad" Andres Breivik. Message to the Baron: your pathetic attempts at self-exculpation are getting very old and tired. The poor, poor couple had to even delay their quarterly begging activities because of the ruckus.

The only new claim made here is that the rumor about Fjordman being Andres Breivik that arose right after the Norwegian massacre was started by a Swedish Nazi website. No link is given by the Baron to buttress this allegation. It's not like the Baron doesn't have lots of links readily available to Swedish Nazi websites, now does it? :)

Attacking Obama - the Baron shows he's learned nothing from the Andres Breivik disaster

A blog post that starts with this picture:

is clearly going to be quite "interesting" (in a pathological sort of way). And that's what Baron Boddissey does in this vicious attack on the leadership of his native land.

Let's look more closely at the Baron's house of sand - and lies.

We start out with a broadside, at least partially justified, against the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which in a recent conference in Kazakhstan called for the suppression of anti-Islamic speech in Western nations. That should never fly in the U.S, with our First Amendment, and, despite Europe's different history with the consequences of hate speech, I don't think it should fly there either.

But then the Baron scribbles this little turd:

What has changed in the last year or so is the willingness of the United States to accept the OIC’s requirements on the “defamation of religions” and attempt to implement them through the UN, doing an end run around the First Amendment.

A sweeping statement - and then let's look at the pathetic "evidence" Boddissey uses to buttress his lie.

There's absolutely nothing in this document that calls into question the free speech rights of Americans. Here are the statements the Baron highlights and objects to:

-this also has potential to create a backlash against Muslim Americans. Such a backlash would feed al-Qa’ida’s propaganda that our country is anti-Muslim and at war against Islam, handing our enemies a strategic victory by turning our communities against one another

-Violent extremists prey on the disenchantment and alienation that discrimination creates, and they have a vested interest in anti-Muslim sentiment.

-Muslim Americans are part of our American family.

- we must counter al-Qa’ida’s propaganda that the United States is somehow at war with Islam.

- While al-Qa’ida claims to be the vanguard of Islam, the overwhelming majority of its victims are Muslim.

- Islam is part of America, a country that cherishes the active participation of all its citizens, regardless of background and belief.

- We have emphasized a paradigm of engagement with Muslim communities around the world, based on mutual respect and interest manifest in our new partnerships and programming to promote entrepreneurship, health, science and technology, educational exchanges, and opportunities for women.

For the Baron, Al-qa'ida IS the heart and soul of Islam. For the Baron, Muslim-Americans are NOT Americans and should be subject to isolation, deportation, or worse (the isolation, which will lead to terrorist acts, is a convenient way for the Baron and his allies to get to the next two steps of this unholy trinity). For the Baron, we ARE at war with Islam, and we need to start actions to eradicate Islam around the world, through persuasion and, as will be necessary, blood.

And finally, back to our opening picture. The Baron is attacking Islam, but in this post he's attacking even more strongly and viciously our own government and its officials, accusing them, through his picture, of treason to his sacred principles of a White United States. This is the kind of rhetoric that Andres Breivik sopped up with his lutefisk soup in Norway, and will perhaps encourage an American Breivik to "extreme measures."

Free speech has its consequences, Baron, even if it is free. And you have learned nothing from Fjordman, Geert Wilders, Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and the others (including your own blog) who inspired Andres Breivik.

Machine-gun the lifeboats!

Before it's too late and we're overrun with Jihadi scum!.

No, that's not me talking, that's me paraphrasing the Baron's policy position on the influx of refugees from North Africa onto Southern Europe's shores, fleeing turmoil in Tunisia and Libya. "Camp of the Saints" refers to a French right-wing paranoid fantasy novel of the 1970's, which sees millions of brown invaders in France resisted by heroic white boys.

Perhaps there is another solution, dear Baron. Perhaps, if Europe assisted the people of Tunisia and Libya (and Algeria while they're at it), who have overthrown corrupt leadership keeping them in the economic dark ages, by finishing off Gaddafi and doing a "Marshall Plan" for those nations, then those nations would become as economically and politically prosperous as Europe itself, and their residents would be happy to remain among their cultural and linguistic brothers and sisters. The economic dynamism of Turkey is an example - while there are existing Turkish populations in Western Europe, how many new Turks are fleeing their formerly impoverished nation for the riches of the West?

But that would take forward thinking, and an end to the bunker mentality and the "Mooslims are the root of all evil" nonsense that permeates the Gates of Vienna gang. Good luck with that!

The Words of Fjordman

Poor Fjordman has been outed and is off the air. He's spoken to the police, and been forced to endure the indignity of accusations that he was a spiritual mentor to Andres Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer.

First, let me say that I don't believe Fjordman has said or written anything that should land him in jail or subject him to criminal penalty. Perhaps this reflects the fact that I am an American, and the 1st amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing freedom of speech, protects speech that is provocative, challenging, damaging, demeaning, repulsive, and flat-out wrong. My standards may not apply in European nations with a different history and constitutional protections.

But if Fjordman should not face legal consequences, he should and must face the moral and societal consequences of his words. If appropriate, he should be shunned, censured, and ignored. And here are eight direct quotations from the works of Fjordman which illustrate that he must be shunned, shamed, and censured. Andres Breivik did not attack Muslim immigrants in Norway - he attacked white Norwegians whom he politically disagreed with. Likewise, Fjordman's main object of attack is not the Muslim hordes invading his beloved White civilization - it is his "treasonous" fellow White Europeans who are allegedly letting it happen.

So without further ado - please hold your noses, control your gagging reflexes, and wallow in eight examples of Fjordman slime that could have been written by Andres Breivik himself in the notorious "manifesto."

Job Cohen is the leader of the Labor Party of the Netherlands, a social democratic party. In other words, the Stoltenberg of the Netherlands. Wilders is inciting violence not against Muslims this time, but against the Dutch Labor party and its supporters. If a Dutch version of Andres Breivik arises, he will attack not a "hate palace," but rather Dutch government buildings and a youth conference of the Dutch Labor Party. And Wilders will have much more blood on his hands than he does now.

And when you demonize an entire people, and furthermore decry your "white" political opponents as traitors to Europe or (insert your nation here), you can expect a loon like Breivik to take you seriously and commit mass murder.

A Refreshing Contrast

David Frum has posted the translation of a repentant and contemplative Norwegian anti-jihadist.

My preliminary conclusion is that we cannot let the evil of this one man determine how we think about the boundaries of free speech or healthy debate. But – and it is an important but – I don’t think we as a society can or should continue debating the challenges of immigration as if nothing had happened. Even if the new debate that I have described did not directly produce the monster that planned the killing of so many innocents in cold blood for so many years, we should not completely disregard the commonalities they share, or the many mechanisms through which extreme words and worldviews shape those who grow up in them, and provide sick souls with a framework to act.

Imagine Muslims saying after 9/11: “Yes, we believe that the US is the Big Satan, that Israel is the Small Satan, that Westerners who engage with the Muslim world should be seen as crusaders, that the Caliphate should be restored – but we categorically have nothing to do with terrorism.” It would not sound terribly convincing. Today, there will be those who continue to insist that Islam is the incarnation of evil, that there is no threat that is not ultimately connected to Islam, that Muslim immigration is just a polite word for Muslim invasion, that areas with a large Muslim population or a majority are occupied, and that politicians who allow immigration have lost all legitimacy and commit treason to their own nations. And they will categorically deny that they have any reason to rethink their rhetoric or approach in light of right wing, counter-jihadist terrorism. A slight digression back to square one - Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs. Since he has completely converted to the light and has turned on his former comrades Geller, Spencer, Bodissey, et. al., he has quite the conniption when a Forbes online writer lumps him in with his former friends as an "anti-jihad" blogger who inspired Mr. Breivik to commit his atrocities. The Forbes writer, Abigail Esman, had this to say:

Yet nothing in these writings greatly distinguishes him from other followers of such blogs: he frequently praises a writer who goes by the name “Fjordman” and who is well known on the conservative, largely anti-Islam circuit; and he often cites posts from the site Little Green Footballs and Pamela Geller’s Atlas Shrugged , both of which are popular not only among anti-Islam activists....

Needless to say, Johnson feels the need to scurry to the farthest hill from his former friends, getting on a VERY high horse along the way:

I’ve had nothing to do with the “anti-Islam” blogosphere for years — in fact, they absolutely hate my guts. And Breivik did not cite posts from Little Green Footballs — he republished old articles by “Fjordman” that cited LGF, and he also cites many articles viciously attacking me.

For those of you new to this whole business, here is the basic fact:

BREIVIK TO HIS TERRORIST ACTS.

On the opposite side of the ledger, Charles Johnson started breaking away from the anti-jihad extremist movement in October, 2007. There are many theories behind the breakup, but one of the least likely is that Johnson threw up his hands in disgust and turned on his former comrades out of some sort of humanitarian outrage at their antics. Most likely, the knife in the back he twisted into his former colleagues has to deal with some sort of personal issues that could only be found in the files of Mr. Johnson's psychiatrist, should such a person exist.

But the best takedown of Charles Johnson comes from Abigail Esman herself in a comment to her blog post. It sticks to the facts, and damns him with them:

The owner of LGF claims that the anti-Islam crowd does not read his blog. While I know many who do, his feeling was that he was being unfairly singled out, and rather than make an issue of a point that had nothing to do with the actual gist of my piece, I removed it.

That said, and this is important: neither LGF nor Ms. Geller nor anyone else whose writings this man read can be called responsible or culpable in any way. He also cites articles from the BBC. The BBC is also not responsible. The only person responsible for this man’s despicable acts is Breivik himself.

I am aware that the owner of LGF is publishing criticisms of Ms. Geller’s blog, as his followers are also presenting untrue remarks about me, my views, and my work. That’s the nature of blogging. It is unfortunate that LGF does not permit new registrations, making it impossible for me to clarify the issues, but that, too, is his choice in running his business.

Charles Johnson was not named in my post. What I stated was that LGF is cited by Breivik in his writings. That is a fact. LGF is cited. AtlasShrugs is cited. Wikipedia is cited. The BBC is cited. They’re all cited. Johnson didn’t like my mentioning his blog in this post, sent me several e-mails that were not worth fighting over, so I removed it. Period.

The Gates of Vienna, a blog that ordinarily keeps up a drumbeat of anti-Islamist news and commentary, closed its pages to comments Sunday “due to the unusual situation in which it has recently found itself.”

Its operator, who describes himself as a Virginia consultant and uses the pseudonym “Baron Bodissey,” wrote on the site Sunday that “at no time has any part of the Counterjihad advocated violence.”

Dymphna's line of attack? Only that the dear Baron has outed himself on another website. Of course I can only imagine the shrieking from the dear woman if the New York Times had actually published the Baron's real name! As for the rest of the two paragraphs, they are quite factually accurate, except for one glaring lie - the lie, of course is the Baron's claim that violence and the counterjihad movement have nothing in common. Mr. Breivik disproves that claim quite thoroughly.

By the way, Dymphna's quoted correspondent, one Carl in Jerusalem, is a notorious Eretz Israel fanatic who advocates either expulsion of non-Jewish populations from Israel and "Judea and Samaria", or creation of an apartheid state with these populations subjugated to their Jewish overlords. A disgusting creature.

Norwegian Goetterdaemmerung

Events have moved by quick since my last post on the instant Gates of Vienna reaction to the Norwegian massacre. The key events:

- Breivik, the "tall nordic" was behind both outrages.
- No Jihadists involved.
- Breivik turns out to be a big fan of the "anti-jihad" movement.
- Claim that Breivik was Fjordman(!) denied by Fjordman.
- Collateral battle breaks out in the 100 year war between Johnson and Geller.

The Baron and GOV have a number of breathless posts about this terrible event. I won't link to them all - they're all at the top of the blog. Some of the more interesting things to note:

The most noxious comments from the Baron are his reference to the absolutely ridiculous claims of this book, which claims that jihadists were in league with Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols of Oklahoma City bombing infamy, in a pathetic attempt to claim that maybe, JUST MAYBE, our nordic blonde bomber was, indeed in league with Jihadists. We can classify this as a pathetic wish that the enemies of Gates of Vienna were behind this, rather than the friends of the blog. And to end his pathetic plea, the Baron throws a conspiracy note into the mix with

Anybody who is interested in the idea and can read Norwegian should start investigating this right now. If any evidence of such complicity exists, it’s a good bet that it has already begun to disappear.

The Baron also has posted a couple of whines from Fjordman about how he, in fact, is not Mr. Breivik, and so on. But, as we pointed out in our previous post, Fjordman implied that the Norwegian Labor Party socialists had it coming. If Fjordman is not Mr. Breivik, they certainly had pretty similar views and, it appears, the main difference between them is that Fjordman, seeing himself as some sort of intellectual, has no interest in actually killing any one - just implicitly inciting others to do so.

But finally, the Baron is doing his best to distance himself from Mr. Breivik. To his credit, the blog has consistently of late deleted comments that explicitly advocate violence. And the Baron is clearly appalled by the idea that someone might have actually taken inspiration from his blog to commit these horrible acts.

But, sorry Baron, it appears that Mr. Breivik did, in fact, get the ideas behind his mayhem from you, along with a lot of other "anti-jihad" bloggers and "thinkers." In a way, the intellectual veneer you give to your hate may have inspired him more than others.

And on a final note, Gates of Vienna is closed to comments indefinitely! I can only imagine what they were getting that resulted in this decision ...

Terrorism in Oslo = Disgusting Instant GOV Hate Fest

This morning saw a terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway, for which a scum jihadist group took quick responsibility. Gates of Vienna has, of course, provided instant coverage, as this kind of event is their raison d'etre. A same-day shooting spree at a labor party youth gathering appears to be the work of a person "described as tall and very nordic looking."

The Baron has kept his cool on this post - there will undoubtedly be lots of time and posts in the future tying this event to Mahoundianist perfidy. But some of the Baron's correspondents, and the commenters on the blog have not. Herewith, a sampling:

Interesting post on Cyprus - but with a huge fatal flaw

The tribulations of the Cypriots on their island is a subject that Gates of Vienna returns to every once in a while. The article from GOV regular Henrik Raeder involves somewhat less spittle than some of the Baron's other correspondents, and there is plenty of blame to go around regarding the Cyprus situation, including with the Turkish Cypriots and Turkey.

Nonetheless, Raeder toes the GOV/Greek Cypriot line in excusing the stunning and stupid refusal of the Greek Cypriots to approve the Annan Plan in 2004, which would have led to a reunification of the island on fair and equitable terms (also opposed to the plan was Turkish Cypriot hardliner Rauf Denktash, but the Turkish Cypriots wisely ignored him and voted for the plan). The GOV-Greek Cypriot line is that the agreement was unfair to Greek Cypriots, perhaps because it didn't put their Turkish fellow islanders back into servitude and subject to pogroms, deportations, and ethnic cleansing. The odious goal of the "Enosis" (union with Greece) proponents in 1974 and earlier is also whitewashed.

While the article is well-written and thoughtful by Gates of Vienna standards, it still falls far short of the mark.

Baron and GOV double down on the English Defense League

The most interesting thing about the "open letter" to Madame Geller? It does not speak one whit to the actual allegations against the English Defense League, which are 1) They have in their leadership a fellow named "Snowy" who likes the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and 2) the leader of their "Jewish" wing quit in disgust at the anti-semites she had to deal with in the organization.

STILL trying to revive a dying Belgian horse

The Baron doesn't give up his fantasies easily. Just a couple of weeks ago we documented the Baron's Belgian delusions re: Vlaams Belang. The New Flemish Alliance has supplanted the Baron's beloved Flemings as the prime party advocating a split of Belgian into its constituent parts, but without the other noxious anti-European, Muslim-hating, Flemish Nazi-loving parts of the Vlaams Belang platform.

The Baron, however, is still living in his fantasyland, assuming that the fast-disappearing Vlaams Belang remains the prime voice of Flemish nationalism.

In actually reading the manifesto, Vlaams Belang hides well its true agenda. Most interesting are the oblique references to "settling" the problem of Brussels. Belgium's and Europe's capital is in Flanders, but consists primarily of French-speakers. What does Vlaams Belang have in mind to address these potential "Sudetens" within the boundaries of the Flemish state? My guess - linguistic, if not ethnic, cleansing. After all, when you're forcibly repatriating a few hundred thousand Muslims from Flanders, what's a few hundred thousand expelled Francophones going to hurt anyone?

Let's look more closely at John Esposito, victim of Spencer's slander:

Let's start with his webpage. It appears to have not been updated since 2005 (perhaps the hate mail ranters that Spencer encourages has gotten to Professor Esposito), but he certainly looks like he has had a distinguished "establishment" career in academia.

Now let's get into his views. First, this article, which acknowledges Muslim radicals but argues they distort Muslim tradition. Spencer certainly disagrees with this statement, and there are arguments to be made on both sides. But respected academics don't respond to such disagreement by calling their opponent a "pseudo-academic."

Now let's look at the specific accusation against Esposito - that he is working with an international group of Jihadists to end the first amendment right to criticize Islam.

Esposito certainly supports 1st amendment freedoms for Muslims, as he expounds in an article on the "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy. He has decried irresponsible demonization of Muslims by Republicans and by media numbskulls like Glenn Beck. But the closest he comes to any infringement of the 1st amendment right to free speech is to argue that such attitudes must become as socially unacceptable as anti-semitism. That's not an attempt to end 1st amendment protections for Muslim-criticizers, despite the fevered imaginations of Spencer and the Pajamas Media smear job he quotes in his piece.

What this all comes down to is guilt by association, and an attempt by Spencer and his ilk to make any apologies for anything in the Muslim world to be grounds for dismissal from an academic position, if not expulsion from this nation.

Spencer is really a twisted piece of work.

As a postscript, note on Jihad Watch that "barondymphna" has challenged Spencer to back up his assertions. He has not responded, but some twisted souls have, in their own futile way. Some people don't like facts.

The Baron promotes an odious new "standard" to unite his fractious followers

But the tipping of the scales that leads to the Baron's wholesale condemnation of the whole affair is the identity of the President who instigated it, Barack HUSSEIN Obama (And yes, the Baron brings back the Presidential middle name libel, at one point in the post fulminating "Certain Congressional Republicans would like Hussein to 'explain' himself.") The Baron even agrees with Dennis Kucinich that Obama has committed an "impeachable offense."

Also of noted perniciousness in this post, the use of "scare" quotes around genocide to describe the events of Srebrenicza - the Baron is flirting with the "Srebrenicza is a hoax" lie perpetrated by Serbian supremacists.

But back to the Greeks. There is no doubt that the Turks massacred Greeks in the run-up, during, and right after World War II.

Before World War I, the massacres occurred on both sides, for example, during the Greek War of Independence, 1821-1830. The Muslim population of Crete, 47% of the population in 1821, was reduced to 0% in 1928 through deportations and massacres. And the depredations of the Turks in the Balkans and on the fringes of Greece during this period are well-known.

During World War I, the Greek citizens of the Ottoman Empire were the subject of massacres and lesser persecution by the Ottoman authorities, being perceived (rightly so, although they didn't deserve death for it), as enemies of the Ottoman state.

After World War I, the claims of a "Pontian Genocide" by Ataturk and the new Turkish state cannot be taken with a straight face. Not because they occurred, but rather because they were a reaction to the invasion of Asia Minor by Greece, the jubilant reception of the Greek troops by Greeks living in Asia Minor, and the massacres of Muslim Turks by the Greek troops, both as they advanced, and later as they headed pell-mell into retreat back to Greece. This wikipedia article summarizes the whole sordid affair. It concluded with a forced population exchange, with 1.3 million Greeks forced to leave Turkey, and 350,000 Turkish Muslims forced to leave Greece. Yes, he does. His new reliable source is Press TV, courtesy of the Islamic Republic of Iran!

With a slight twinkle toward the "irony" of an Iranian report on violence against women in Turkey, the Baron otherwise uncritically provides the link. The hatred of Islam at GOV trumps even repugnance at use of such a disreputable, and most likely lying, source.

But Turkey is a special Gates of Vienna bugbear, that must be brought low. You see, Turkey is proof that a Muslim nation can also be, in many respects, progressive and western. If Turkey can be denigrated and destroyed, the Baron's wet dream of the civilized, white west destroying the brown Muslim savages of the Middle East can come true. That explains posts such as this one, a vicious attack on Turkey, and on the "weak" German politicians who don't respond with missiles upon Ankara or some such dystopian dream of the Baron and his ilk.

Of interest in the comments to the post in the latter link: EscapeVelocity, in comment #2, ties Turkey's attitude toward Germany to Mexico's attitude about the U.S. re: immigration. Proof once again that the Baron's commenters and their racism can't always stay on topic (although the Baron probably doesn't mind - he and Dymphna aren't very fond of "brown" Mexicans either). Later in the thread, "Egghead" advocates that all Muslim imams in Europe be rounded up and "liquidated."

The Baron implores Robert Spencer and especially Pamela Geller to not forget Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff. For some inexplicable reason, Pamela Geller is snubbing Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff in her public pronouncements (for which I, if I were Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff, would be EXTREMELY grateful), and her intellectual confederate, Robert Spencer, is apparently following suit. This is not the first time the Baron has complained about the inexplicable ingratitude and snubbing he and his favorite pets have been getting from those quarters.

Better watch out, dear Baron. Pamela has been known to get venomous in reponse to the slightest criticisms!

The Baron takes to task Theodore Dalrymple, normally an ally.

The Baron acknowledges being a "longtime admirer" of Mr. Dalrymple, known for his chronicles of "extensive experience with the most dysfunctional members of the English working class." You see, normally the Baron is also an upper class snob, or perhaps an upper class wannabe slob.

But apparently the WHITE working class dyfunctionaries are to be declared a great exception to this rule. Especially the white working class dysfunctionaries of the English Defense League. Some basic information about the EDL is here.

Mr. Dalrymple has committed the cardinal sin of heresy against the EDL, whom the Baron characterizes as "by and large kind, generous, decent, hard-working, patriotic people who uphold old-fashioned values." Any problems are, of course, due to their being trapped in our "degraded postmodern world"(!). And then, in classic smear mode, the Baron points out that Dalymple "is in agreement with the Communists, the Anarchists, Labour, the Lib-Dems, the Tories, the BNP, and the Muslims, all of whom say much the same thing." Although smearing someone as being similar to all three of the parties in Britain whom have earned enough votes to be represented in Parliament is perhaps a smear unique to the Baron and similar would-be genocidaires.

Also of note, the BNP in this list. The BNP used to be one of the Baron's favorites. Perhaps that "brand" has become too violent, although that's not usually a disqualifying factor in the fight against the evil Mooslims.

And then, the threat for all who disagree with the Baron's view of an extremely bloody turnover of society (his personal wet dream):

Virtually no one who now holds a position of power or influence will be a part of the rebirth — and many of them will be lucky to survive the general reckoning when the system finally implodes.

Clearly, the Baron fancies himself with a high ranking role in the nightmarish regime he believes will rule the world. And Theodore Dalrymple? For all he's done for "the cause," he'd better be shaking in his boots.

The Baron Jokes Around about who is a citizen

The Baron muses on what constitutes a Virginian. Surprisingly, someone who looks either Mexican or Muslim, like the criminal whose photo the Baron displays, doesn't fit the bill.

But in the comments the Baron gets "schooled" by oldschool26, who states, in a very uncharacteristic comment for Gates of Vienna (I'm surprised Dymphna didn't scrub the site clean from such blasphemy):

If I move to Virginia and establish residency, then I AM Virginian, even if you do not like it, even if I cannot speak the dialect, ever. It is my right to decide, not yours, who I am, just as it is my choice to decide if I will conform or not.

There are law abiding Virginians of all stripes, and those that seek to exclude people who are different make a big mistake in my mind, and perpetuate the very thing we try to eradicate in our society, discrimination based on prejudice.

But the Baron quickly backtracks a couple of comments later, stating that he wrote the post with "a sense of fun." A sense lost on loon Takuan Seiyo, who spews more racist vitriol in comment #18.

Quite frequently Baron Bodissey decides to host a "guest blogger," whether it be the "renowned" Fjordman, or others. One of the Baron's favorites is a creature named Takuan Seiyo, and recently the Baron hosted part 3 of an extended rant from Mr. Seiyo.

Let's just take a few snippets from gentle Takuan's essay, which is mixed in with some obscure and crazy pseudo-Taoist nonsense that I will spare you, to get a flavor of it (and absolve you, my reader, from having to wade through the entire cesspool).

The ruling elite is doing the sweeping, and various spiky strands of the broom stand out: the Muslim janissaries contracted by the nominally Judeo-Christian elite, the Mexican reconquistadores and the rest of the imported underclass, the Black racist demagogues and criminals, the red-diaper Jewish society improvers, the red-flag French intellectuals and their university franchises, the Social Christianity clerical comrades, the Hollywood useful idiots, the purposefully forgotten Chicom strategists, and so on.

The GOP is a useless diversion, the conservatives in clueless confusion, the Tea Party too pansy, the teachers Comintern saboteurs, the generals beribboned cowards trading truth for another star on the collar of he, she or heshe, the economists lapping milk from the saucers of the financialists, the government determined to immanentize the eschaton while China grabs the market for the cyclotron.

Unlike the Libertarians, the Freedomians recognize that what was best about America came from a specific American people. That people was 90% White, construed by Anglo-Saxon-Scottish ideas and norms of conduct, and largely led by Anglo-Protestants.

Gates of Vienna's Agenda for U.S. - Same as Europe?

I sometimes try to give the Baron and Gates of Vienna a little slack. After all, Europe and America are on different continents, and have different cultures, ethnic identities, etc. - I want to beware not to fall into Charles Johnson-LGF-style willful ignorance about a different continent's problems.

But then I read Dymphna's paranoid rant that the U.S. is beset by Republican spineless weaklings and I think to myself - if these two are as wrong about events in Europe as they are about events in the U.S. ...

Dymphna is devastated that Republican Rep. Peter King's investigative committee will not fulfill her desires for an old fashioned witchfinder inquistion to expel Muslims from the U.S. And worst of all, they are calling none other than Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim-American U.S. Representative or, as Dymphna refers to him "the fox in the henhouse" to testify! Dymphna doesn't want to give Rep. Ellison a microphone, she wants to give him some tar and feathers, or perhaps even a noose.

And then Dymphna is HORRIFIED to discover that Rep. King supported INTERVENTION AGAINST SERBIAN GENOCIDAIRES IN BOSNIA! And he dares to actually engage with his Muslim constituents, instead of pointing them toward the nearest cargo boat for deportation back to their fetid homelands! For shame!

And for all her dislike of Charles Johnson, Dymphna is turning into just as much of a censor of blog comments (as I have found out to my chagrin). "Freyja's cats," while generally supportive of anti-Jihad extremism, attacks the ridiculous tactics of Pamela Geller and her fellow-traveler Robert Spencer, for which Dymphna threatens her with deletion of her comments. Freyja backtracks, but watch out dear - Dymphna is the Madame DeFarge of Gates of Vienna, and she will send you packing if you don't stay on the Islamohate message of GOV.

A New Low for the Baron - Pining for the Return of Apartheid in South Africa

The Baron's careful with his words, because he clearly knows he aiming for a new racist low, but he goes ahead anyway with this dirge for the end of the beloved Boer nation under the impending genocide of the Black Africans of South Africa. Or so the Baron hypothesizes and fantasizes about.

The Baron claims that the mainstream media ignores the story of violence against Boer farmers in South Africa. A quick google search, which finds stories like this, proves that the Baron is lying again. And it's a rare genocide that apparently makes it into South Africa's version of the Onion.

The Baron does appear to have an ulterior motive - if South Africa can't be returned to the benevolent white domination it deserves, at least transport all those Boers to Europe, where they can serve a shock troops against the hordes of black-skinned and brown-skinned and non-Christian barbarians.

And, no matter how low the Baron sinks, his wife, in a comment to this post, sinks even lower, with this "blood libel" (to use a term that's popular these days)

Free speech, yes. Extolling hate speech, no.

The Baron and the Gates have started a new feature, entitled "Roster of the Silenced." Tuesday's report is from Kansas, where a fundamentalist pastor was sidelined by a local court.

Of course the Baron is absolutely correct. Free speech in the U.S. should be just about absolute, and no one should be jailed on trumped up "loitering" charges when the object is to suppress their speech.

I wonder if the Baron feels the same way about the Westboro Baptist Church desecrators of American funerals? After all, they are also exercising their free speech rights. Would the Baron support the right of Muslim fundamentalists to proselytise in front of major Christian churches in Kansas? I suspect not.

I have no doubt that the Baron supports Pastor Mark Holick not because he has the right to exercise free speech on a public sidewalk in front of a religious institution, but because the Baron heartily approves of his message. And what is that message? One of hate and divisiveness. Holick's behavior in court, where instead of fighting for his free speech rights in the face of pretextual "loitering" charges he apparently attempted to proselytise the judge with his message of Islamohatred shows that he is an extremist nutcase. And while extremist nutcases have rights to free speech like the rest of us, it's not because we agree with their hateful messages.

Holick appeared to be trying to recreate the circus surrounding the shambolic Murfreesboro Tennessee court case regarding the proposed Islamic center in that town. The judge in Kansas would have none of it.

Even when the Baron is right, he's right for the wrong reasons.

No Exceptions to the Rule Allowed!

The Baron, when faced with a story that challenges his root beliefs (in this case, the volunteering of Muslims as "human shields" for Coptic Christian churches in Egypt), spins like a top.

The Baron sees only three possibilities for the human shield story, each more ludicrous than the previous, with the topper for paranoid conspiracy theories being #3:

The participants knew very well that there would be no terror attack that night, and therefore their actions put them in no danger. This scenario is only plausible if (a) the participants had connections with the state intelligence services, and (b) the intelligence services are working cooperatively with elements of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Note the Baron's casual use of the term "Muslim Brotherhood," the primary Islamist political party in Egypt, as being behind the attacks. Unfortunately for the Baron, Egypt's police recently arrested seven Al Qaeda members as suspects, and Al Qaeda, despite the Baron's purposeful ignorance, is not a part of the Muslim Brotherhood party. The Baron also conveniently ignores the fact that leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood party acted as human shields themselves.

Two notes about the comments: commenter #1 Randian offers the most ridiculous rationale of all - the "human shield" Muslims are planning to permanently occupy the Coptic Christian Churches, presumably to turn them into mosques! And, to his credit (if he is sincere), the Baron states, in response to another commenter, that "I don't mind if it turns out to make Muslims look good -- that's a perfectly acceptable outcome."

My only question for you, dear Baron is, if it is a perfectly acceptable outcome, why wasn't it among your scenarios in the main body of the article?

Dymphna's a Pollard-lover, Peretz-hater

Dymphna takes up Jonathan Pollard's cause, and rips into Marty Peretz.

First, the breathtaking double standard. I can only imagine the gallows calls from Dymphna if Jonathan Pollard were Abdul Aziz Mohammed, and had spied for Saudi Arabia instead of Israel (and yes, Dymphna, Saudi Arabia is an ally of the U.S., just like Israel is). Yet Jonathan Pollard must be freed, because he spied for "our side." (that is, Dymphna's side).

Second, the attack on Peretz, one of the most stalwart, and sometimes a bit unhinged, defenders of Israel in the U.S. Dymphna's words, accusing Peretz of mimicking anti-semitic and even Nazi talking points, is also breathtaking in its stupidity and complete lack of context.

Dymphna claims to know and acknowledges Marty Peretz's stated positions on Israel over the decades. Yet one "false move" by Mr. Peretz, and Dymphna lumps poor Marty in with the worst of the others on her enemies list.

Is Dymphna stupid, or evil? Perhaps both.

The Muslims are Coming! The Muslims are Coming!

The hordes of Balkan Muslims are about to descend on a bunch of unsuspecting and clueless Slavs (so says the Baron). Look closely at the language the Baron uses, in its repellent and truly foul glory:

Say 5% of the Muslims in the new visa-free zone decide to walk across the borders and disappear into the halal areas of Oslo or Rotterdam. Additionally, let’s say that a only tiny minority of 1% of those new migrants have jihad on their minds. That’s 3,500 new mujahideen, safely ensconced in the heart of Europe and drawing on state benefits to finance their jihad.

Our Czech reader is concerned that the Bosnian and Macedonian Muslims might migrate mainly to affluent Slavic nations in Central Europe, such as his own country. Their native languages are closely related to other Slavic languages, so that it would be easier for them to acclimate themselves to their new booty-rich Slavic kuffar environment.

The Baron then goes on spout one of his pet theories - that there is an active conspiracy among the "mainstream media" to ignore this portentious development.

No thought is given by the Baron to the fact that many, if not most, Slavic Muslims are in fact the equivalent of Slavic and European Christians - their religion is claimed in name only. Any Slavic Muslim identity that has been formed has resulted from the attacks over the past 20 years by the likes of Radovan Karadzic, Slobodan Milosevic, and their minions.

But the Baron won't let facts get in the way of his hate.

No Interfaith Dialogue with Evil Mooslims!

So warns the baron. One thing the Baron and Dymphna WILL NOT tolerate is any thought that Islam has ANYTHING in common with their blessed Christian religion. All attempts to bridge that gap are to be firmly rebuffed as playing footsie with the devil.

My first question for the Baron and Dymphna - would you be equally opposed to a similar attempt at interfaith dialogue proposed by a rabbi? Because Judaism has an even lower opinion of Jesus that Islam does - he was basically a fraudulent messiah in the official Jewish world view. Somehow, the Gates of Vienna gang have different theological standards going on here.

As for the tarring of the promoters of this ecumenical event with Jamaat-al-Fuqra and the Muslims of America, those two organizations are indeed tawdry bunches to generally be avoided, but claiming that this is "the tip of a very sharp stiletto of propaganda which, when fully inserted, is designed to do serious damage to the Christian faith" is ridiculous hyperbole. Any idiot knows that Muslims don't think Jesus is the Son of God - but it appears that only acceptance of this fact will truly show the Baron that Muslims are serious about interfaith dialogue.

Strike Two for Frau(lein?) Sabaditsch-Wolff

The Baron gleefully publish Elisabeth Sabditsch-Wolff's report regarding her recent trip to Israel.

Let's look at Frau(lein?) Sabadistsch-Wolff's report in a little more detail. The first section is not promising, as she apes noted paranoiac Bat Ye'or's language about a "sinister project called Eurabia," and its fostering of increased anti-semitism in Europe. Included in Bat Ye'or's rantings is something called the "Palestinization of the Bible," a nonsensical term I've never heard before. Generally, the paragraph is utter nonsense, and the fact that Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff quotes it uncritically is NOT a good sign ...

As an aside, the uncritical quotation of Bat Ye'or's work includes clear signs that Bat Ye'or would do to the Palestinians what she alleges the Arab world and the European world would do to Israel - delegitimize their very existence. And 20th century history shows only too well, as Bat Ye'or ably demonstrates herself, what happens to peoples whose very existence is delegitimized.

Sabaditsch-Wolff then goes on to uncritically support Israeli annexation of "Judea and Samaria" (a.k.a. the West Bank). She puts the reasons as defense of the Israeli state from the evil Mooslims, not "Eretz Israel" Jewish fantasies, but the result is the same.

Then we get to an extensive quote from Paul Weston, English conspiracy theorist, who states that standing with Israel means standing for "freedom and democracy ... the right to free speech and the right to a peaceful existence," but also, ominously, "truth and honesty with regard to Islam, bravery, determination, and sacrifice in our struggle against Islam," and, most ominously, "call[ing] upon God to help us defeat evil." Weston then goes on to defend and extol Israeli permanent annexation and occupation of the West Bank.

Now injecting a little black (and unintentional on her part) humor, Sabaditsch-Wolff lets her German get the better of her, as she decries the "obviously filthy" Arab-controlled towns, in contrast to the very clean settler communities.

Next we get quotes from former Briton Brian of London, who claims to have left England out of fear for his family. But Brian is soon revealed by Sabaditsch-Wolff's quotes to be nothing more than an Eretz Israel religious zealot, aiming to do for his Jewish faith exactly what he accuses the Palestinians of wanting to do to Jews. Once again, the Palestinians are claimed not to even exist, having "taken their false name from the Romans and graced it with a starting letter "P" that doesn't even exist in Arabic!" Also, the fact that all of the Jewish settlements are located on hills somehow means that all those stories of Palestinian land being taken are a bunch of lies. Give Brian points for creativity - but there was lots of similar creativity throughout the 20th century used for evil purposes, and there's some similar creativity in the Arab world when it comes to discussing Israel as well.

As an aside, the comments section is interesting, as a bit of anti-semitism pops out in the claim by "kloutlicher" that western civilization was not based upon "Judeo-Christianity," followed by a few swipes at Jews.

But perhaps it's not irrelevant. It certainly appears to anyone with a ounce of non-delusion in their bones that the entire embrace of the European far-right of Israel is at least partly based on the crass political calculation that their anti-semitic pasts, and aroma of current anti-semitism inherent in any claim that Europe is a white, CHRISTIAN endeavor, can be combatted with a claim of robust defense of Israel.

But more importantly, Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff and her fellow modern-day pilgrims to the Holy Land are interested in demonizing and eliminating Islam in Europe. They see the dreams of the Israeli right-wing for the Jewish state as a good template and example for what they want to accomplish on their own continent. Their clear hope for the "disappearance" of the Palestinians as a people (ironically, a few of whom are fellow Christians) begs the question - what happens to the over one million non-Jewish inhabitants of "Judea and Samaria." Are they to benefit as full citizens of the democratic state of Israel? Are they to remain as second class apartheid-type subjects of the Israeli state, without civil rights, in mockery of the claims of Israel to be a democratic state? Or are they to be "transferred" or worse (a.k.a. "ethnic cleansing")?

Ms. Sabadistsch-Wolff and her fellow pilgrims avoid that question. But they clearly have no intention of supporting full Israeli citizenship for non-Jews in "Judea and Samaria," just as they would like to start the process of expelling or even killing the Muslims within Europe by stripping them of all civil rights. And, given the odious precedents for that, unequivocal and loud support of Israel is seen as just the ticket to divert attention from their true agenda, and promote an example that they would follow eagerly in Europe.

The Baron sees more goblins - this time in Russia

The Baron scares up some more nightmares, this time the dreaded Tatars of Central Russia (and sneaking around in the Crimea too, as noted by mockingbird178 in the comments. You missed a SCARY aspect of this story, Baron, shame on you!).

It takes a while to connect the Baron's dots, they are so far apart. Spinning nightmares out of very thin thread, Bodissey manages to tar the Tatar Russians with the sins of their radicalized Caucasus co-religionists, and practically begs for a renewed Slavic "crusade" against these wretched infidels.

And, in case anyone could forget, the Baron and the commenters pound home the point - Beslan, BESLAN, BBEESSSLLLANNN!!!

Until recently, it appeared that the Baron merely want to kill, expel or convert all Muslims in Europe (and Tatarstan is, indeed, west of the Urals), But, in an ominous development, the Baron adds India, of all places, to "Europe", with its 150 million fifth columnist Muslims, apparently also to be killed, expelled, or converted.

The Baron's genocidal dreams make those of Hitler' who merely wanted to kill a couple dozen million of his fellow humans for their religious identity, look like child's play.

Update - Maybe Ms. Wolff has a few flaws after all

The Baron appears to have overplayed his hand yet again. Today's post on Elizabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff is showing a few jokers in the deck. From the Baron's linked article itself:

Later she returned to Kuwait, then worked in Libya after that. “Life in Islamic countries is terrible,” she maintains. “… And the Muslims are the first victims of this ideology. They should be freed from their religion.”

Frau Sabaditsch-Wolff appears to brook no toleration of any kind of Islam. I wonder what she thinks of the bloodthirsty passages of the Old Testament? Is she an atheist, like Christopher Hitchens, or just another Christian hypocrite?

Europe has had no political leaders who would show the way against Islamization. “However, several are already on the scene and one day they will be the true leaders of individual European nations,” she says and nods in the direction of Åkesson, Stadtkewitz and company. “Our time is now!” she cries into the room, and the people leap to their feet. Standing ovation. A few handkerchiefs are even pulled out. She has done it again. “Those are the best moments.” says Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff later, “when I stand there and feel the people’s enthusiasm. That gives me incredible power.”

The conference is full of far-right politicians who want to do more than just curb Islamization in Europe. They want to destroy the EU and bring back autarkic, defensive nationalism to a Europe that practically extinguished itself over such policies by 1945.

Recently, support is even coming from Israel. Representatives of the ultra-rightists who would like to continue the settlements on the West Bank rather now than later, are looking for support for their plans in Europe. And they get this from Strache & Company, who for their part, want to wash off the Nazi smell that still clings to them, by means of emphatic friendship with Israel. The common “enemy, “ Islam,” unites them all. ... Also there: Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, personally invited by the organizers. Her speech to the political greats of Israel — including Vice Minister Ayoub Kara of the ruling party , Likud — is favorably received. “Islam is a threat for Europe,” she says. And that Israel is “an oasis of civilization in a desert of barbarism.”

Frau Sabaditsch-Wolff does little help to her credibility by being used by Israeli extremists who are nothing more than the Jewish version of Islamic jihadis, bent on recreating a 3,000 year old holy land and treating its non-Jewish residents in a way only marginally better than their ancestors treated the Canaanites.

So, Frau Sabaditsch-Wolff bears observation. Is she a progressive, feminist voice against the misogyny of Islam? Or merely another far-right stalking horse, using the somewhat justified fear of Islamists to advance a noxious political agenda disastrous for Europe's future?

Gates of Vienna supports both good and bad

The good: Elizabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a feminist fighter against Islamic misogyny and the imposition of Islamic cultural values against Europe, the object of semi-deification by the Baron. The Nodrog has investigated Frau (Fraulein?) Sabaditsch-Wolff, and while she takes her criticisms to Islam to an uncomfortably demagogic level at times, her words need to be spoken, and the prosecution of her for her speech is outrageous and is, in fact, a distressing and foreboding sign for the future of Europe.

And then there's the bad: defense of Tommy Robinson, a member of the English Defense League. My predecessor has already chronicled the disgusting politics of Nick Griffin and the British National Party (BNP), supported by Gates of Vienna. A BBC report on the group notes the violence of its protests and wonders about support from other far-right organizations, such as the BNP. From the Daily Mail, a CONSERVATIVE British paper, comes this first-hand report of the violent soccer hooligans who form the core of the English Defense League. This article documents new connections between the English Defense League and Tea Partiers, along with noted nutcase Pamela Geller, in the U.S. It's clear that the English Defense League is at least a semi-fascist and certainly racist organization with violence on its mind.

But the Baron and Dymphna are not picky in their choice of allies. Perhaps because they agree with their racist and fascist goals of groups like the English Defense League, both in Europe and here in the U.S?

And then there's this fellow:

Robert Spencer is the "intellectual" of the Islamohaters. His site is Jihad Watch, which hides its vile bigotry behind a thin intellectual veneer. Among other causes, Spencer was a brief supporter of a facebook group called the "Anatolian Reconquista," which proposed the conquering and repopulation of Turkey with Christians, after killing or sterilizing the existing Muslim population.

I had a run-in with Robert Spencer back on Little Green Footballs in late 2003, when Robert was Charles Johnson's favorite intellectual (how times have changed!) . And a recent Jihad Watch post proves once again that Robert was lying back in 2003 when he said he wasn't a Bosnian Muslim-hater. I responded with the following on Jihad Watch (comment #2) - we'll see if it stays up.

Hello Robert, this is "Gordon". Perhaps you remember me from the late, great early LGF days, where in 1993 you went on with a pithy Marshall McLuhan riposte to my claim that one of your books whitewashed the Bosnia situation as the fault of Muslims.

And now, seven years later, you have proved with certainty that, in fact, you do blame the Bosnia disaster of the 1990's on the Bosnian Muslims, and openly wish that they had been ethnically cleansed by your heroic Serbs.

The truth of the whole situation has been so well documented by numerous, numerous media sources that people like you have to inhabit a completely alternative reality in order to justify your genocidal impulses in Bosnia. After Milosevic and the Serbians had started their campaign to take over Yugoslavia in 1989, and after Slovenia and Croatia had run as fast as they can away from this, the people of Bosnia voted in a fair election to also secede. In response, the Bosnian Serbs and their friends in Serbia unleashed a three-year war of terror, genocide, and ethnic cleansing, ended only by the Dayton peace accords. Arms embargoes against all sides prohibited the Bosnian Muslims from arming themselves against their already-armed foes. As a result, they did get some limited help from opportunistic jihadis from other parts of the world.

But the fault for this development lies entirely with the horrific war crimes perpetrated upon Bosnia by the Bosnian Serbs and, to a lesser extent, by Bosnian Croats. Your inability to accept this historical fact speaks volumes as to your inveterate Islamohatred, which knows no bounds.

So, Robert, you were lying and dissembling back at LGF in 2003. And now you've been outed.

Hello everyone. The previous custodian of this website, barondymphna, has contacted me with a request to take over this blog. She (at least I think she's a she) said that she did not have the time or inclination to continue with this effort (her last post being in March, 2010), but remains appalled by the content at the Gates of Vienna website, and needs someone to take up the slack. She noted that I had closed down LGF Banned and Blocked, and also that I have been often blocked and deleted by Dymphna on Gates of Vienna for my contrarian views.

After some consideration, I have decided to take barondymphna up on her offer. I'm not sure how to change the name on the account, or annex it to my own blogger stuff, so, as of now, I, the Nodrog, am the one and only barondymphna.

And now, let's get on with business...

Recently, the Baron took advantage of recent news regarding the corruption of the Kosovo Prime Minister to come back to one of his favorite themes - the wrongheaded decision of the West to refuse to allow Slobodan Milosevic and his Serbian thugs to ethnically cleanse and massacre Islam and Muslims from Bosnia and Kosovo. Here is the thread.

I posted a sane response, quoting from Tony Judt's masterful one-volume "Postwar" history of Europe after 1945. My contribution was deleted without comment.

The apparent stalemate might have continued indefinitely had Belgrade not upped the ante with a series of brutal mass murders in early 1999, first on January 15th at the village of Racak in southern Kosovo and then in March all across the province. The Racak attack, in which 45 Albanians were killed (23 of them apparently executed), served finally – like the marketplace massacre in Sarajevo – to stimulate the international community to action. After fruitless negotiations at Rambouillet between Madeleine Albright and a Yugoslav delegation, which eneded with a predictable refusal by Belgrade to withdraw its forces from Kosovo and accept a foreign military presence there, intervention became inevitable. On March 24th, and espite the absence of formal UN approval, NATO ships, planes and missiles went into action over Yugoslavia, in effect declaring war on the Belgrade regime.

The final Yugoslav war lasted just under three months, in the course of which NATO forces wrought serious damage in Serbia proper but had only limited success in preventing the ongoing expulsion of the Albanian population from Kosovo; in the course of the war 865,000 refugees (half the Albanian population of Kosovo) fled to makeshift camps across the border in Montenegro, Bosnia, Albania and the ethnically Albanian regions of western Macedonia. But in spite of President Clinton’s imprudently public insistence that there should be no NATO ground troops engaged – obliging the alliance to conduct a war from the air with the inevitable mishaps that played into Yugoslav propaganda and the Serb cult of victimhood – the outcome was a foregone conclusion. On June 9th Belgrade agreed to remove all its troops and police from Kosovo, NATO attacks were suspended, and the UN duly mandated a “temporary” occupation of the province by a NATO-led Kosovo Force.

Ah, the dreaded "T" word shows up at Gates of Vienna once again. This time it's the British government that is the culprit. Based upon the unsourced ravings of an apparently unhinged London Daily Telegraph columnist, who cites to an "unpublished home office paper," the British government was purposely using immigration to wreck the Britishness of the nation.

The Baron's correspondent, Norwegian nutjob "Ola Olsen," uses this wedge to begin a classification of the different levels of treason currently in Europe regarding the infiltration of Fjordman's dreaded Mooslims, reaching the heights of ludicrousness with this purple prose:

At some point in the future, there will be a need for another Nuremberg trial, where the traitors of all levels will be brought to justice.

One of the commenters goes even further: LAW Wells adds: You know what James I & IV did to the Gunpowder plotters? He had 'em hanged, drawn and quartered. Maybe it's time to reintroduce that punishment. Horrific as it is, it would certainly be a very effective deterrent to treason (especially of Level 3). Taking aside the point that there was never an English King named "James IV," (perhaps LAW Wells, a true Australian, apparently never learned that James Stuart was also James VI as King of Scotland) it should be noted that Ola Olsen identifies the current English government as "level 3" traitors.

But commenter Luddite puts a monkey wrench into Ola Olsen's plans, noting that the British government has apparently abolished the crime of treason!

Count on the Baron to find a report about one insignificant new extremist group in Bosnia and then blow it up into a story trumpeting the imminent takeover of that benighted nation by a Muslim Third Reich. The Baron's mendacity and distortions in this post are truly astounding and disgusting. Throwing one back at ya' Baron, Julius Streicher would be proud of you.

But then comes some common sense in the first post from none other than the usually dependable GOV'er Homophobic Horse:

A disturbing post but I have contextual questions:

1. Exactly how popular is this movement?

2. Is Bosniak really a fake nation invented out of Islamized Croats and Serbs (South Slavs for brevity) or are they a real autochthonous group who called themselves Bosnians or some equivalent before the Turks came?

The Baron admits his own ignorance in his reply in the third post, but then a character named Lukec provides the needed context in four consecutive posts, putting the Baron's ignorance and mendacity to shame, explaining the whole sordid story of Bosnia's history in a relatively evenhanded manner.

Perhaps the Baron will acknowledge that Lukec has put him to shame, or perhaps he will stay quiet and hope this post, exposing him as an ignorant hater, is soon forgotten.

Revisionist History

Muslims are not only bad now, they've been bad forever. That's according to the Islamo-hate gang that Gates of Vienna bangs the drum for. They even caused the decline and the fall of the Roman Empire!

Note, first of all, the primary sources for this diatribe and pathetic excuse at scholarship from John J. O'Neill - those noted dispassionate academics Bat Y'eor and Robert Spencer. Add in the magnification of minor points from a more reputable scholar (Hugh Trevor Roper), and you have the substance of the historical analysis behind O'Neill's claims.

O'Neill claims that medieval Europe had abolished slavery, and that it was reintroduced by dastardly Islamic influence upon 1) Vikings, and 2) Mediterraneans. Perhaps O'Neill has not studied the concept of "serfdom." When economic life revolves around local land and agriculture, the "slaves" became "serfs," tied to that land.

O'Neill, as the wont of Islamohating "scholars," ties his "scholarship" to Koranic verses justifying his thesis. He, and all such "scholars," ignore the contrary Koranic verses, littered throughout the document. I would suggest that O'Neill and others read Robert Wright's "The Evolution of God" to gain more enlightenment on this subject.

But it's an ominous development when the Islamohaters decide that they have to not only denigate Islam today, but smear it back to its very core. It's a sign that the Islamohaters don't really just want to stop with kicking Muslims out of Europe and the U.S. It's the ultimate in "zero-sum thinking" as expostulated by Wright - and in today's world, such thinking is likely to end up ending humanity as we know it.

El Ingles - continuing his intellectual monstrosities

Gates of Vienna has been host for a while now to a creature known as El Ingles. In this latest installment, he describes how he would "non-violently" de-Islamize Europe.

El Ingles originally got Gates of Vienna banished from Pajamas Media back in 2008 with this post, where he appears to advocate genocide against European Muslims. Of course, all sorts of disclaimers followed - this was merely a "worst case scenario," don't you see?

But back to the latest installment - some thoughts:

El Ingles is fond of using graphs to indicate his points, but the graph in this particular post defies logic, and merely obfuscates what he is trying to say.

El Ingles refers to the issue of crime in Europe as the "human substrate problem." The primary flaw in El Ingles' analysis, of course, is that he seems to think that "human substrate" is primarily non-white and non-European. While he mostly talks about baaaaaaad Muslims, he lets slip in a couple of places that indicate that his bigotry is much, much more general, aimed at all Africans, and probably the dreaded Roma too.

El Ingles seems to think that he has produced an ingenious solution to Europe's "Muslim problem," combining internment and deportation. I would only point out to this site's few readers that certain other schemes for excluding "alien" elements from a society started out in the same way, involving the creation of "ghettoes" and proposed relocations to Madagascar, and God knows where else.

The funniest thing about El Ingles' solution is that it won't solve what El Ingles and the Gates of Vienna want - the "deIslamization" of Europe, making Europe "Muslim-rein," to use other unfashionable terminology from a past "blame the victim" time. El Ingles assumes that most Muslims are habitual criminals, wife-beaters, honor-killers, sharia-spouters, etc. I don't think it's the case, and El Ingles' methods to weed out Muslims will prove quite disappointing in their reaching of numerical goals. And at that point I suspect El Ingles and his ilk will decide to ratchet up their "internment and deportation" plans, rather than acknowledge their failure to cure a problem that they had magnified out of proportion.

Towers of Hysteria

The Baron is effusive and ecstatic over the recent Swiss referendum to ban minarets in that nation. But he is, if possible, even more excited about the prospect of the European establishment coming down hard on Switzerland. He eagerly awaits the bloodbath to come.

Unfortunately for the Baron and all Islamohaters, the Swiss referendum was, at best, misguided. Not because it will inflame opinion in the Muslim world (what doesn't inflame opinion in the Muslim world?) not because it is unecessarily insulting to Muslims in Switzerland and Europe, but because it picks the wrong target.

If the cataclysmic Islamic takeover of Europe that the Baron so alternatively fears and slobbers over occurs, it won't be because of minarets. Or headscarves. Or the dreaded specter of "Islamic finance." It will be Sharia criminal codes, legally-sanctioned misogyny, and special taxation for non-Muslims. And unfettered and unrestricted immigration from Muslim countries, without inculcation of these immigrants with western cultural values. Now some of the crazier Islamists in Europe are proposing such things, and they should be shut down. But a minaret? A minaret is a building, nothing more.

After forays into the important topics of who invented eyeglasses (Europeans of course) and the like, Fjordman has "returned to base" with a vengeance. Let's look at some snippets of his madness:

I would rank Britain as the Western European country most likely to first get a civil war caused by mass immigration and Multiculturalism. Led by the beloved BNP, no doubt.

The one thing I reluctantly admire about Marxists and Leftists of all stripes is above all their ability to organize and focus on long-term goals. ... They must be squashed, otherwise we cannot deal rationally and adequately with our external enemies. I assume by "squashed" that Fjordman means "killed." And then we can kill all the Muslims, right Fjordman?

We must get rid of Feminism, which is destructive and merely an extension of Marxism, anyway. Wait a minute, I thought that it was the MUSLIMS that were the misogynistic creeps? Apparently Fjordman is one too - well, his Nazi forebears were, so he can be too.

It is the official policy of both major US parties to support — no accelerate — the continued destruction of Europe, just like it is their policy to continue the destruction of their own country. It's depressing to hear that the Republicans, currently in Tea Party mode, also don't meet Fjordman's exacting standards of racism, Islamophobia, fascism, and misogyny.

The current US President Obama has publicly pledged himself to combat opposition to Islam rather than Islam itself, which means that it is official US policy to spread Islamic law. That's quite a logical leap Fjordman - take a (to put it mildly, disputable) point, and then make a breathtaking illogical leap to your conclusion.

Uncle Sam is Uncle Sharia, as we have recently seen demonstrated. I would be interested in Fjordman's links on the institution of Sharia law in the U.S., or the support of Sharia law elsewhere in the world by the U.S. I guess that being a Quislingish Norwegian intellectual means never having to back up your statements.

Then they [the U.S.] would bomb us and say it is for our own good, just like they did to the Serbs. Attention, Baron - do you really believe this nonsense?

The United States will not survive this century. It will be split into several countries according to ethnic, racial and perhaps even ideological lines. There is no such thing as a universal nation. People want to live with their own kind. The only ones who are not allowed to do so are whites, and they are starting to get tired of this double standard. Home Schooling Heaven

The Baron takes time out to brag that his blog is popular with home-schoolers. My flippant response is that anyone who home-schools their kids by spoon-feeding them Gates of Vienna deserves a visit from their state child protection services agency!

But seriously (sort of), the Baron gives thanks to the schoolmistress of this site for home-schoolers for linking and commending Gates of Vienna as a learning tool and news source. To which I say, perhaps my response above wasn't too flippant! This woman is apparently teaching her children that global warming is a hoax, that the Godly should never divorce, that universal health care is evil because our representatives haven't actually read the entire bill draft (have your students read it, m'dear?), that Obama betrayed us in China (providing links to wingnut sites to prove her thesis), liberalism is worse than slavery for African Americans, and ACORN or somebody else stole the NY-23 election; she is also providing them with a compendium of wingnut paranoia. Nothing found on evolution and "creation science," at least not within the past two weeks.

The Baron and Dymphna undoubtedly believe that home schooling will save this nation, as wingnut parents indoctrinate, er, I mean "educate" their children to be little wingnuts themselves. Unfortunately for the dynamic duo, there are a lot of parents on the other end of the ideological spectrum that are also home-schooling for very similar reasons.

Which means that a whole new generation of children are going to be home-schooled into becoming far-right or far-left clones of their parents. Unfortunately for these parents (and fortunately for the rest of us), sometimes children rebel against even that many years of indoctrination.

GOV rents space out to Serbian delusional bigot

That would be Srdja Trifkovic, a repulsive and repellent Great Serbian chauvinist. You know, the type of "person" who thinks Srebrenicza was a hoax and wants to "cleanse" Bosnian Muslims, Kosovar Muslims, Sanjak Muslims, etc. from "Greater Serbia."

Here's a brief summary of Trifkovic's arguments in this post:

-Christophobia infects western culture.
-Christophia afflicts anyone who rejects the teachings of the EASTERN ORTHODOX church.
-Things went bad in 1054. Yes, 1054. That's when the Western Church took the heinous step of including the filioque clause in the Nicene Creed. Yes, the filioque clause ("who proceeds from the Father AND THE SON) is the root cause of all that has gone wrong in the Western World in the past 1000 years.
-Orthodox nations have been victimized. In particular, Serbs have consistently underestimated the malevolence of U.S.-led designs on their country and culture, and ... Russia naively undertook a series of Western-inspired “reforms” in the 1990’s that devastated the country.
-The only true conservatives left in the world are found in Orthodox nations such as Russia and Serbia.
-Homosexuals, the vanguard of a corrupt Christophobic western civilization, are trying to take over Serbia.
-Evidence of this is found in a recent attempt to have a gay pride march in Belgrade, and anger from the sodomites when the march was cancelled.
-Both of the two principals in this story, Greg Davis in Santa Monica, CA, and Bosko Obradovic in Belgrade, will probably suffer martyrdom.

I suspect that the only martyrdom Greg Davis of Santa Monica CA will suffer is the martyrdom of oblivion. As for Obradovic, since "Greater Serbians" seem to relish killing and ethnically cleansing non-Orthodox neighbors, especially if they are Muslim, he may meet a violent end on a battlefield some day. But I would hardly call this "martyrdom."

What DOES make Gates of Vienna different?

It took a while to decipher what "Wild Iris" (no, not a 1920's porno star - the post explains HIS nickname) is trying to tell us, but I finally figured it out, and here it is.

The Gates of Vienna crowd sees "the big picture" and is willing and ready to ascribe the overall faults of a culture or religion to ALL of its individual members.

The word for this, dear Dymphna, is, alternatively, "racism," or "bigotry." It is what anti-semites did to Jews in the 19th and early 20th centuries based upon some pretty flimsy evidence of individual actions, a lot of it (as in the Dreyfus case) made up. And it is what you are doing to Muslims, and to people of races you don't approve (Latin Americans, sub-saharan Africans, South Asians, Arabs).

This is not to deny that the murderous rampage at Ft. Hood, or the D.C. sniper killings, were not motivated by religious zeal. But, just as Wild Iris accuses apologists for Major Hasan of isolating his actions as those of a deranged individual rather than coming from a repellent religous ideology, the GOV gang and Wild Iris can be accused, rightly so, of imposing that same repellent religious ideology upon all of the world's Muslims. Both actions are equally disastrous.

Geller is really working to slime the Bary parents as Muslim-jihadis, posting information , extraneous to any issues in this case, that could be used by extremists to do exactly to the Barys what she alleges the Barys want to do to their daughter, (there are no other kinds of Muslims for the likes of Geller and Robert Spencer).

But there's another side to this story that you won't get from the frothing haters at Gates of Vienna, Jihad Watch, and Atlas Shrugged. The police will have none of Rifqa Bary's coached claims. Her parents have a different, quite plausible story, corroborated. And here's a telling take on the whole story from a Christian Tampa attorney who was assigned to represent Rifqa Bary's mother, documenting the "Christian Jihadis" who have apparently taken Rifqa Bary under their wing.

Fjordman, taking a break from his scintillating series on the history of cat breeding, has this breathtaking announcement: the commies won the cold war. While most of the article is a ripoff of a book review from "Reason Online," Fjordman adds this breathless commentary:

Instead of an Iron Curtain we now have an Iron Veil of Multiculturalism, and Western Europe is on the wrong side of it this time around. Did we trade the USSR for the EUSSR? If we really “beat” Marxism, how come Marxists and Leftists of all stripes virtually control Western media and academia a generation later, and why does the USA have a Marxist-inspired President Obama?

The original even has some bogus links embedded, to which I will leave you to find.

Where to begin in fisking this nonsense? Comparing what went on in the Warsaw Pact states to what is going on in Western Europe today is obscene, and I would hope any "dissident" who suffered under the Czechoslovak tyrants or Nicolai Caucescu (assuming they lived to tell about it) would come over to Norway and hit ol' Fjordman with a cluebat. Then there is the comparison of the ineffectual European Union federal structure with the Soviet Union "federal" structure, another metaphorical obscenity along the same lines. Call me back, Fjordman, when the EU starts sending people like you to psychiatric prisons, or perhaps to Spitsbergen to mine gold with your bare hands.

Next we get the John Birch society redux, the media and academic "conspiracies," and, of course, our "marxist" President Obama. I thought he was a Muslim, Fjordman? How can a Muslim who believes in Sharia law be a Marxist? Perhaps you can write us a 10,000 word essay on that topic.

Fjordman's pathetic rants are an expression of one of today's far right mantras - that the Cold War was a sham because the West already was full of communists and fellow-travelers, and still is (see, e.g., the 2nd comment from "Ypp.") It's a corollary to the other far-right thesis, Islamohater version, which is that the communist threat during the Cold War was nothing compared to the Great Islamic Menace of today. Both ideas are deep delusions, unaccompanied by any evidence that withstands the light of day.

And the Baron adds his own unique style of paranoia to the upcoming takeover of the EU by a Muslim version of Josef Stalin.

The most troubling GOV connection of all - the BNP and Nick Griffin

Gates of Vienna promotes and lavishes praise upon quite a motley crew of European far-right parties. The Sweden Democrats and Vlaams Belang of Belgium, along with Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, have been the subject of lots of praise, and materials about these parties are not readily available to English-language readers.

But one of GOV's favorites is the British National Party (BNP, led by Nick Griffin - for whom there is no language barrier. And the materials available on this party and its leader are, to put it mildly, deeply troubling.

Let's start with the wikipedia pages on the BNP and Griffin. Both are very well-sourced entries. They include documented statements of holocaust denial, including one caught on tape. While the Baron undoubtedly approves of the BNP's anti-Islam baiting, the party's more general racism and anti-semitism is the target of a concerted effort by their leaders to "hush up," (but not eradicate). The BNP also apparently hates Hindus, and wants them kept out of Great Britain too. And blacks, even those who are war heroes for the British military, are not welcome. The party is also opposed to "mixed-race relationships."

We could go on, but you get the point. The question for readers of Gates of Vienna is: Do the Baron and Dymphna support the BNP and Nick Griffin IN SPITE of their extension of racism and fascism well-beyond mere Islamo-hatred, or do the Baron and Dymphna SHARE the BNP's full-on racist beliefs? Ignorance of the BNP cannot be an excuse, unless the Baron and Dymphna don't know about wikipedia!

And we'll finish off with the latest BNP news, care of a source loathsome to the Gates of Vienna gang for its apostasy - its apostasy for finding racist ideological bedfellows a source of shame, rejection and rethinking, not pride, reinforcement, and ignorance.

Baron Bodissey's been doing some reading again, and has a review of a book about the founding of the Soviet police state terror apparatus. The first part of the post is a quite good review of the book, and some solid perceptions of the nature of the Cheka (which morphed into the NKVD and then the KGB) as it created its internal reign of terror and set up efficient spying and sabotage networks outside of the Soviet Union.

But then comes the turning point in the piece: After reciting the ten tenets of Soviet espi0nage activities abroad, the Baron writes: As I read through this list, I was caught up in a feeling of déjà vu: except for “wet affairs” and “direct action”, these techniques sounded remarkably similar to what was practiced against Counterjihad Brussels by the agitators who infiltrated the comments at LGF two years ago.

What follows can only be described as a breathtaking descent into paranoid madness. My jaw dropped as I read the Baron concluding that he and the other noble Islamohaters had been the victim of a massive conspiracy two years ago, a conspiracy that took advantage of a credulous Charles Johnson, a man on hyper-alert for “neo-Nazis”, especially in Europe. The Baron still can't accept the evidence that Vlaams Belang is a fascist organization.

The Baron then goes on to weave an intricate tale of conspiracy and collusion, with the dead hand of Soviet communism resurrected by an unholy alliance of "liberals" and Islamists. Read it yourself (preferably before dinner) - its paranoia and false logic defy encapsulation, except by an easy label such as "John Birch Society redux."

The commenters avidly second the Baron's paranoia, particularly the repulsive "Laine." First he includes this whopper:

Suppose someone in the Pentagon, Foggy Bottom or Congress is also enlightened. He will find it impossible to act because he is by now likely outnumbered by committed marxists and their useful idiots. He doesn't want to be "McCarthied" i.e. pilloried for pointing out the enemy. The Left has made a specialty out of killing messengers who would expose its perfidy.
Yes, you read it here first, folks - the American left will murder you if you disagree with them!

And in his second comment Laine descends even lower:

The glistening slime trail of communism leads from the WWII Frankfurt school and Gramsci prescription with marxist Jewish professor vectors lodging in American universities which became magnets, then beacons for the Left.

Didn't you get the message Laine - the new "white power" fascist right is holding off on the anti-semitism for now - it's time to concentrate on demonizing Muslims as "the other," - Jews can wait until the Islamic rats are expelled or exterminated. Get with the program, Laine!

More evidence GOV should stick to European issues

Dymphna decides to stay on this side of "the pond" again, and once again shows her ignorance and hypocrisy. The subject this time is a special election for a New York congressional seat. The Republican incumbent was appointment by the President as Secretary of the Army ("how convenient" says Dymphna. That he had a sterling record in supporting the military and our men and women in uniform appears to be irrelevant). And now the Republicans have had the temerity to nominate (shocka!) a moderate! In Dymphna's world, of course, such people must be purged from the Republican party, just like the Mensheviks needed to purged from the Russian communist party by the Bolsheviks, the better, perhaps, to form a cadre of ideological "shock troops" to storm the nation. Dymphna and the right-wing fear machine are supporting a renegade conservative in the race, because it's apparently more important to purge the Republican party of its heretics than it is to actually win elections.

But most noticeable is this internal contradiction. Now Dymphna and GOV are full of internal contradictions, but rarely do they show up in the same post:

Let me put it this way: I am in favor of reforming and downsizing our federal and state government. I want our tax code simplified so that it can be easily understood by the average person and can be read in a few hours. I want a tax based on consumption and I want all the penalties for savers eliminated. Most of all, I want government out of our private lives. It doesn’t appear that the Republican Party in its current manifestation wants any of these things.

Later, in the same post:

So who is Ms. Scozzafava and why do I think her nomination by those Republican Party Council chairs is a ruinous choice? Well, she’s hardly a conservative. She’s pro-choice and supports same-sex marriage. Those are warning bells, but she could be a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. That’s workable.

How nice of Dymphna to grudgingly acknowledge that being a "social liberal" may be "workable." How exactly, Dymphna, is your opposition to a woman's right to choose an abortion and a gay couple's ability to make a lifelong commitment reconcilable with your wish, MOST OF ALL, to get government out of our private lives?
